Creator Subscriptions requirements

Subscriptions has its own criteria on top of X's Creator Monetization Standards. You must:

• Have 2,000 or more active followers with Premium, Premium Business or Premium Organizations.
• Have 5,000,000 or more organic impressions on your posts in the last 3 months.
• Have posted in the past 30 days.
• Agree to the Subscriptions Creator Terms.

And, like every X payout program:

• Live in a country where X's monetization programs are available, and be 18 or older.
• Have an account that's been active for at least 3 months, with a name, bio, profile photo and header image.
• Have a verified email and two-factor authentication.
• Not be a state-affiliated media account, and be in good standing.
• Have an active Premium, Premium Business or Premium Organizations subscription.
• Connect an X Money account or a verified Stripe account, and complete identity verification.

Subscriptions vs Original Content Rewards

How much creators keep

X's Help Center says creators "are eligible to earn up to ~97% of the gross revenue earned from Subscriptions. X does not take a revenue share." What gets deducted is third-party payment processing or app-store fees, plus cancellations and refunds. Subscribers who sign up on the web usually cost less in fees than those who subscribe inside the iOS or Android app.

A rough example: 150 subscribers at $4.99 a month is $748.50 in gross revenue. At the ~97% web maximum that's about $726 a month. If many subscribers pay through app stores, the share you keep will be noticeably lower. For comparison, earning $726 a month from impressions alone would take something like 85 million impressions a month at typical rates.

What subscribers get

• Exclusive posts in their Home timeline, plus notifications for them on iOS and Android.
• Subscriber-only threads: since March 2026 you can tease a thread in a public post and let people subscribe to see the rest.
• Subscriber-only Spaces and the option to limit replies on public posts to subscribers.
• A subscriber badge next to their name when they reply to you.
• Direct messages, if you switch them on.

The March 2026 update also added a shareable subscription card, an earnings and subscriber dashboard, a two-step onboarding and a built-in "Paid partnership" label for sponsored posts.

How to start offering Subscriptions

1. Check the numbers

   2,000 Premium followers and 5M organic impressions over 3 months. Creator Studio shows your progress.

2. Apply in Creator Studio

   Set your monthly price from X's price points and describe what subscribers get.

3. Connect payouts

   X Money in the US or Stripe elsewhere, plus ID verification.

4. Give people a reason

   Promise something specific and deliver it on a schedule: weekly deep dives, early access, Q&A Spaces. Vague "support me" offers convert poorly.
