Verified followers and verified impressions, explained

The three counts at a glance

Verified followers

A verified follower is a follower whose account has a checkmark. On X, most checkmarks belong to Premium subscribers (blue); businesses in Verified Organizations get gold and government accounts grey. Original Content Rewards requires 500 verified followers, a number that hasn't changed from Revenue Sharing.

This is often the harder of the two numbers. An account with 30,000 followers might have only a few hundred verified ones if its audience rarely pays for Premium. Following and interacting with other creators in your niche, many of whom subscribe, usually moves this number faster than chasing general reach.

Verified impressions (for eligibility)

To join, X asks for "at least 500,000 Home Timeline impressions from verified users in the last 90 days (impressions on replies are excluded)." Three details matter:

• Home Timeline only: the For You and Following feeds. Views from search, your profile page or embeds on other websites don't count.
• Verified users only: views by people without a checkmark don't count.
• No replies: a reply that goes viral under someone else's post adds nothing to this number.

It's a rolling window: every day, the oldest day drops out. 500,000 over 90 days averages about 5,600 verified impressions a day.

Qualified impressions (for payouts)

Once you're in, you're paid on qualified impressions: "unique impressions from Premium users (subscribers to X Premium Basic, Premium, Premium+, or Premium Business) on the Home Timeline feed, where at least 50% of the post is visible." Only impressions on original content count, and X excludes:

• the same account viewing the same post more than once,
• paid, promoted or artificially generated impressions,
• fraudulent impressions.

Note the small differences from the eligibility count: Premium Basic subscribers are included, and each viewer counts once per post.

Why total impressions mislead

Suppose X Analytics shows 3 million impressions for the last 90 days. If 15% of those views came from verified users in the Home Timeline, only about 450,000 are verified impressions, just under the bar. And if a third of your reach came from reposted clips, those views won't earn even after you're accepted. That's why the calculator has a slider for the share of original posts and a "calibrate" option that uses your real payout instead of guessing.

How to see your numbers

1. Creator Studio

   Creator Studio → Original Content Rewards shows your eligibility progress, including verified followers and verified impressions.

2. X Analytics

   Shows total impressions and engagement per post. Use it to see which formats and topics perform, not to check eligibility.

3. Your payouts

   Once you're paid, divide each payout by that cycle's impressions to get your real rate. How to calculate it.
