How much does X pay per million impressions?

The honest answer is a range, not a number: X has never published a payout rate. Here is what we know, what creators report, and how to work out your rate.

What X says about payout rates

X has never published an amount per impression. What it has published is what it pays for:

  • Original Content Rewards (since Sep 7, 2026): payouts are "based on qualified impressions generated by their original content", where a qualified impression is a unique view from a Premium subscriber in the Home Timeline with at least half the post visible.
  • Creator Revenue Sharing (retired): earnings were "influenced by factors such as" verified Home Timeline impressions, who views your content ("views from Premium+ subscribers may carry more value than those from Basic subscribers"), and content format ("different formats may be weighted differently").

X has linked the size of the creator payout pool to Premium subscriptions, and said the pool more than doubled going into 2026 as Premium grew. Neither statement comes with a per-impression figure.

What creators report

Because X doesn't publish rates, every number you see online, including ours, is based on what creators share about their own payouts. Those reports mostly fall between about $3 and $15 per million total impressions, with $8.50 the most commonly quoted middle figure. Our calculator uses these as its low, typical and high presets.

A correction: earlier versions of this site multiplied that base rate by fixed factors for country (e.g. "US 3.5x") and content type ("video 1.3x"). X has never published those numbers, so we removed them. Some other sites still repeat them as if they were official; they aren't.

Estimated monthly earnings at the three presets, assuming all your posts are original:

Impressions per monthLow ($3/M)Typical ($8.50/M)High ($15/M)
1,000,000$3.00$8.50$15.00
5,000,000$15.00$42.50$75.00
10,000,000$30.00$85.00$150
25,000,000$75.00$213$375
50,000,000$150$425$750
100,000,000$300$850$1,500

At the typical rate that's about $8.50 for 1 million impressions, $85 for 10 million and $850 for 100 million a month. With the $30 minimum, an account needs roughly 7.7 million impressions a month at that rate to clear the minimum every two-week cycle. Try your own numbers in the calculator.

Why the same views pay differently

1. Your Premium audience share

Only views from Premium subscribers qualify. If 10% of your viewers subscribe, 10 million impressions give you about 1 million qualified impressions; at 30% they give 3 million. This is the biggest single reason rates vary between accounts. Topics popular with subscribers, such as tech, finance, business and news analysis, tend to have a higher share.

2. How much of your content is original

Under Original Content Rewards, impressions on copied, aggregated or reuploaded posts don't earn at all. An account that mixes original threads with reposted clips only gets paid for the threads.

3. Where the views happen

Qualified impressions come from the Home Timeline (For You and Following). Views from search, profile visits, embeds and outside X don't qualify, and replies are excluded from the eligibility count.

4. Unique viewers

The same account viewing a post several times counts once. A small, loyal audience that re-reads your posts produces fewer qualified impressions than its view count suggests.

5. Program changes

X adjusts how it weights impressions without announcing the details. In April 2026, for example, it cut aggregator payouts to 60% and then by another 20% in the next cycle. Payouts can move even when your own numbers don't.

How to work out your own rate

If X has paid you before, you have the best data there is. Take one payout and the impressions from the 14-day cycle it covered:

Your rate per million = payout ÷ impressions in that cycle × 1,000,000

Example: a $24 payout for a cycle with 3,000,000 impressions is $8.00 per million. Enter both numbers in the calculator's "calibrate" box and every estimate uses your rate from then on. Averaging two or three cycles gives a steadier figure.

Other ways X creators earn

Impression-based payouts are usually the smallest income stream for established creators. Creator Subscriptions let followers pay you monthly, and X says creators keep up to about 97% of that revenue after processing fees. Sponsorships (with X's "Paid partnership" label), affiliate links and your own products often pay more per follower than impressions ever will.

Frequently asked questions

How much does X pay for 1 million views?

Usually somewhere around $3 to $15, with $8.50 a common middle estimate. Accounts with an unusually high share of Premium viewers can earn more; accounts whose views come from non-subscribers, replies or reposts earn less.

How much does X pay per 1,000 impressions?

At typical reported rates, well under a cent to about 1.5 cents per 1,000 impressions (about $0.003 to $0.015).

Does X pay more for US audiences?

X has not said so. Payouts are based on impressions from Premium subscribers, not on the viewer's country, although markets with more Premium subscribers may naturally produce more qualified impressions. Earlier versions of this site used fixed country multipliers; we removed them because X has never published such numbers.

Does video pay more than text on X?

Possibly, but not by a known amount. X's old Revenue Sharing page said "different formats may be weighted differently" without giving figures. Treat any fixed "video multiplier" you see online as a guess.

Why did my payout drop when my impressions stayed the same?

Common reasons: a larger share of your views came from non-Premium users, replies or reposts; some content was judged not original; or X changed how it weights impressions. X adjusts the program over time and does not publish the details.
